TalkTalk have today announced the details of their new SIP service following their acquisition of Tipicall earlier this month. Although TalkTalk have already got a two SIP products, the acquisition of an established provider who is focused purely on SIP Trunking gives them a new proposition that fits into their new model.

The new proposition will see TalkTalk Business offering free SIP trunking when customer purchase on-net data, they are also claiming market leading voice rates and highly competitive connectivity pricing. Flexibility is also at the heart of TalkTalk Business’s new offering, with partners able to scale contracts up or down on a monthly basis.

As BT has set 2025 for the EOL for traditional voice services, there is a clear driver for providers to make sure that they have got a proposition that can take advantage of this and make sure that their customers can migrate from traditional services. By offering free SIP Trunks with their connectivity, it follows on from Tipicall’s heritage of offering cheap, resilient SIP Trunks.

This has been the largest acquisition so far in 2015 in the VoIP space although Cavell expects that due to the EOL of traditional services, other providers will be looking to make sure that their SIP proposition is competitive which may result in more acquisitions and shifts in the market later this year.

Charles Bligh, Managing Director at TalkTalk Business, said: “We have always thrived on being innovative and disruptive, delivering value back to our partners and providing a fantastic all-round service. Now we’re getting serious about SIP. We believe that our new SIP offering will deliver the best value prices combined with unbeatable reliability and comprehensive training, testing and on-boarding, giving our partners all the tools they need to succeed.”

TalkTalk already carries over 16 billion SIP minutes per annum, and with the market growing by 30% a year, there is a huge opportunity for channel partners to take advantage and maximise their revenue potential, especially as the switch-off of traditional voice in 2025 approaches, whilst ensuring an enhanced experience for their own customers.

Guy Miller, former Managing Director, tIPicall and Director of Next Generation Voice Services, TalkTalk Business, said: “We’re delighted to be teaming up with TalkTalk Business to transform the SIP market yet again. We believe that combining our passion for innovation with TalkTalk’s impressive and reliable network will create a platform that is the smart choice for partners looking to access the full connectivity portfolio whilst leveraging the underlying cost base and scale for SIP services.”
